Lesson #2
Date Executed: February 18, 2016
Subject: Chemistry
Topic: Balancing Equations
I taught about balancing equations, which I absolutely love doing. To me, balancing equations is fun and easy to do. I wanted my kids to look at the unbalanced equations the same as me. I started the lesson off with a do now. The do now was identifying elements on either side of the equation, which would come in handy later when we balanced the equations. Then, I had a visual/active learner activity where I had a few volunteers and I showed my students the difference between a balanced and unbalanced equation. This activity was followed by a game where they had to search around the room for easter eggs with chemical equations in them. Finally, I closed off the lesson with an exit ticket assessing what they had learned in class. Overall, I wish I did not have to leave the classroom at the time I did because I could have easily used more time, so I wouldnt have felt very rushed. Overall, I feel as though I taught really well and I hope my students enjoyed my lesson.
