Lesson #1

Date Executed: February 3, 2016
Subject: Chemistry
Topic: Homogenous and Heterogenous Mixtures

I started off my lesson with a do now. The do now assessed their prior knowledge about the material I taught. I taught about homogenous and heterogenous mixtures. After my do now, I showed my students a rap about homogenous and heterogenous mixtures. The video made some of the students laugh and dance, which made me laugh. Following the video, I explained in further detail about different types of mixtures via a powerpoint. I even had a flow chart in my powerpoint! The powerpoint was followed by a lab I created myself. I loved watching my class get up and explore things for themselves. It’s great to see the students apply their new knowledge into something. Once they were finished with the lab, I only had a few minutes left. I had created a game with the different types of mixtures, but it did not work very well. If I had more time, I would have made them complete the exit ticket I prepared them. I did not really get to close my class properly, which is one thing I would change if I could do my lesson over again. I enjoyed teaching the lesson, and hope the students enjoyed it too.
